The Moot Court Association (MCA) of Government Law College was inaugurated in February 1955 by the then Hon’ble Education Minister, Mr. Dinkar R. Desai, under the aegis of Principal Mr. K. R. Mehta.
In recognition of Mooting as an imperative co- curricular activity, the members of the Moot Court Association work unstintingly to promote and encourage mooting in Government Law College. In pursuance of this objective, the Moot Court Association singularly co-ordinates all the mooting activities at Government Law College. Students argue on specific legal issues and adaptations of cases previously settled in court. Eminent Advocates, Senior Advocates and Hon’ble Judges of the Bombay High Court judge various Intra College Moots as well as National and International Moot Court Competitions hosted by the MCA.
The MCA conducts various workshops, the Demonstration Moot Court and the Fresher’s Moot Court Competition in order to acquaint the students of the first year with the activity of Mooting. It also conducts the Grand Moot Court Competition and several Common Eliminations in order to ensure that students participate at various City, State, National and International Moot Court Competitions. The performance of Government Law College at these competitions has been very encouraging and over the years GLC mooters have repeatedly grabbed the top honours at a number of National and International competitions. This success has resulted in overwhelming participation of students in Moot Court Competitions.
